Hexyl Benzoate (CAS 6789-88-4, FEMA 3691) is a clear, colorless oily liquid. It has a fresh balsamic, woody-green and pine-sappy scent with mild fruity hints, similar to fresh cypress branches. It can be found naturally in peach, apricot and black tea. It is an ester-type aroma chemical with good aroma-fixing performance and stable aroma character.
Applications
It is widely used as a flavoring substance in fruit, tea and dairy flavor formulas. It also serves as a fragrance fixative for cosmetic fragrances, scented soaps and home fragrance products to enrich woody, balsamic and chypre aroma accords. It dissolves well in ethanol, vegetable oils and propylene glycol, and is nearly insoluble in water.
